Safe Sport
Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport
Safe Sport Values
Creating a safe, respectful, and positive environment is essential for athletes to learn, compete, and grow.
Safe Sport values help ensure that everyone involved, players, coaches, officials, and families understands the importance of respect, fairness, and accountability in sport. By promoting clear expectations, open communication, and a culture of integrity, organizations can protect athletes while fostering confidence, development, and enjoyment of the game.
Responsibilities
Understanding the roles and responsibilities of athletes, parents, and coaches helps create a respectful, safe, and positive volleyball environment.

Athletes
All athletes deserve a safe place to play.

Coaches
All coaches are required to take a mandatory Safe Sport module before the OVA will grant them membership.

Parents
Parents have conversations with their athletes about acceptable and not acceptable interactions with others, including adults and persons in authority such as coaches. Encourage them to be open with you when there is conduct that they are unsure of or that makes them feel unsafe.
