Tryouts: begin on the September 5th weekend
Age Divisions: for all 12U – 18U athletes
Registration opens: July 20th, 2026
Registration closes: September 5th, 2026
Online registration portal closes on September 5th (midnight). Registering on-site at tryouts may results in a delay in being allowed into the gym.
Tryout Registration Is A 3 Step Process
Athletes will not be admitted into the gym without having completed all of the steps:

AFTER SEPTEMBER 1st ONLY - Register your Athlete with OVA
Niagara Rapids is a member club of the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA), the larger governing body for the sport in our province. In addition to registering with the Rapids, every athlete must also be registered directly with the OVA to be eligible to train and compete. No exceptions!
1. MRS accounts use email addresses as usernames that can only be used once.
2. Use the athlete's information. Do not use parent/guardian information. Double check before submitting and remember the account password!
3. Click on Upgrade Membership > Indoor section, check the Try-out Player box, then click Next. There is no fee. Do not click or pay for any other membership.

What To Expect
1. Sessions:
- Arrive 30–45 min before the first sessions. Please have proof of tryout payment and proof of MRS registration ready to show our Registrar Volunteers.
- Arrive 15 min before second/third sessions to sign-in with our Registrar Volunteers
- There are multiple tryout sessions for each age group. Athletes should attend them all to make sure they are properly and fairly evaluated (testing, skills and on-court).
2. Arrival And Check-In:
- Volunteers will confirm that your Rapids registration, payment and MRS registrations are complete
- It is strongly recommended that all registration steps are completed BEFORE arriving to tryouts
3. A Tryout Number Will Be Placed On Your Arm And Leg
4. Pick-Up Your Tryout T-Shirt
- Tryout shirts distributed as first sessions only
5. Physical Testing By Iron Performance Centre (IPC) May be performed
- Height measurement, spike touch, block touch, speed and serve velocity
6. Fundamental Skills Assessment
- The Head and Assistant Coaches of the team will be on hand to assess skill levels
- Additional Rapids Coaches will run drills and also assess skill levels
- Evaluators who are not Rapids coaches will assess skill levels
7. On-Court Team Assessment
- Drills and scrimmages will help determine team selections
8. Round Table
- Coaches and Evaluators will meet to discuss their findings
- Athlete evaluations from the previous year will be used to discuss team selection
- The physical findings from IPC will be presented as an evaluation tool
9. Offer Letter
- Athletes who have been chosen for a team will receive an offer letter with the name of the Head Coach and the team name
- September 15th, 2026 @ 11:59pm – 6v6, TLS, 16U & 18U offer form expires, as per the OVA
- September 16th, 2026 @ 11:59pm – 15U & 17U offer form expires, as per the OVA
10. House League Invitation
- All Athletes who did not receive an offer letter will be invited to participate in a house league.
